Studio 77 is ready to dance the night away!

It looks like this is the year of fashion only releases! After the two Poppy Parker ensembles revealed earlier this year, we now have three new outfits made to order for W Club members. They are designed to fit Fashion Royalty and similar 1:6 scale dolls and created by Integrity Toys designer Chris Stoeckel. Chris changed era for this release and, instead of his usual 1950s fare, he was inspired by fashions worn by celebrities seen at Studio 54 during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

This is right up my alley. I love a pinstripe suit for my dolls (and do not own one already), plus the gorgeous green blouse is a winner - with the bra top too! This looks for me will be always related to the famous Helmut Newton photograph of an Yves Saint-Laurent pinstripe suit from 1975. There are images of Bianca Jagger and Diane Von Furstenberg with pinstripes from the era (Diane’s is from Studio 54 no less). I would have preferred that the pant hem touched the ground, but I love it anyway. The fedora is the cherry on top!

 This looks like something Jerry Hall or Patti Hansen (the Rolling Stones original wives club) would have worn back in the day, but I could not find any photo online - she appears with a plunging neckline plus fur coat in some photos but it is a draped V neck dress. I did find this daring outfit that comes close. Again I’d have preferred the pant hem to touch the floor. Gorgeous colour.

This looks like an amalgam of different styles of the era - the Halston flowing dresses and the shiny stretch pants with tube tops. Key looks here by Iman, Olivia Newton-John and Halston. Love the style and especially the chain necklace with a shape we have not seen before.

Barbie collaborates with Kartell to release doll-size versions of their most popular chairs!

I love doll sized furniture, especially when they are designer chairs. And now we have a new collaboration that results in some iconic chairs being released in Barbie size pink coloured versions! Kartell, the famous acrylic furniture brand, has collaborated with Mattel, making a set of five of their most popular chair designs in 1/6 scale. The five chair designs are: the famous Louis Ghost, Masters, A.I., Venice, and Ero|S| chairs, all designed by the world renowned designer Philippe Starck for Kartell. They all come in pink coloured plastic, with Louis Ghost and Ero|S| being transparent. They are made with Kartell materials (bio based plastic) and the packaging is from recycled materials, something that (unfortunately) is not the norm for Mattel. I love the box and the way they are nestled inside it. What a magnificent set, not only for doll collectors but also for design lovers! And the price is great, as usually miniature chairs are quite expensive when coming from furniture companies.

Barbie celebrated her 65th birthday this year but it's not the anniversary dolls that make me interested!

Barbara Millicent Roberts celebrated her 65th birthday this year - and of course there were the corresponding collector’s anniversary dolls to mark the occasion (along with a slew of play-line releases) but it was not any of them that caught my eye. Instead, I loved a new release exclusive to Mattel Creations, available for sale on the 21st of March 2024 on their website: Barbie Styled by Design Doll 1.

What a gorgeous Barbie doll - and without the usual sweet smile that they have (65th anniversary dolls included). The sculpt is Claudette, which is usually, if not only, found on collector limited editions, and it is one of my very favourites, because of the high fashion look it has. Her face paint looks good, if you ignore the black crease line in her eyes that shows the dreaded pixels (I mean… they could have avoided that, right?). Her hairstyle is too simple for such a doll, but I am guessing it helps keep the cost down. Would have preferred her being in the pivotal body.

I love her dress and the colour combination - very French. Also notice that she has metallic jewellery and her boots are made of fabric and not plastic! All these should be self evident in collector dolls but with Mattel there is no guarantee. Too bad she is such a limited edition and will disappear in a blink of the eyes. I’d love to have her and it looks like she’s the first in a series, so I’m excited to see what comes next. She looks great in her box too.

I love Dania with short hair - it gives her a very current Linda Evangelista feel (even though to me Eugenia will always be Linda in Fashion Royalty dolls). She looks stunning (Mothership screening) and rekindled my interest in getting an upgrade doll again, after last year’s none. Should we worry that the prototype has a badly drawn eyeliner or will it be fixed for production? She does give the intended Audrey Hepburn impression, as Jessy said in the video presentation, especially from her early days in Roman Holiday (Jessy talked about Sabrina and the b&w gown but they showed a background photo of a moped). I love the texture in the dress fabric. And what fabulous accessories! The bag is in the style of the Cannolo bag by Jill Sander (thanks to goddess Nevraforever for the help in identifying this!) I must say that this year’s prices are $5.00 up from last year’s (which was the same as the year before). Not much, but not nothing either. And it surely preambles an increase in general pricing going forward.

She’s a lovely doll, I’ll give her that. She even reminds me of model Bella Hadid. But, I already own Natural Wonder Rayna and Wild Feeling Rayna, both more fierce and stylish and powerful. She pales in comparison to them. If you do not own any of those two though, she’s a perfect buy. And very versatile. Her colouring owes a lot to Going Public Eugenia but adjusted for Rayna. Love the accessories (Valentino inspiration bag and earrings), could not care less about the outfit (is it Versace?). Pass, even though I’d love to have the accessories.

The only answer they kept landing on was... nobody! Thus, everyone's favorite teenage model turned TV superstar got the groundbreaking opportunity to play opposite of herself as "Angel Eyes"!

And there she is: the second Charlie’s Angels inspired doll (after Undercover Angel Poppy channeling Farrah Fawcett), Jaclyn Smith lookalike Poppy! Many had asked for more dolls inspired from the legendary 70s TV series and it seems David Buttry is giving them to us! She does not have a second outfit as the first one did (upgrade dolls come with one set of clothes) and they did show a sneak peek of a 70s style outfit that fits her and will be available later in the year to W Club members (see the video, link further up), but the first doll with two outfits was only $15.00 more and it really feels disappointing. I will be getting this one cause I love my Angels (and her name is Angel Eyes which also is a favourite Olivia Newton-John song), but the whole situation makes getting her not feel that satisfying.

What a lovely surprise! I started collecting FR just in time to miss the big Refresh and Renew Trunk released back in 2006, which retailed at $224.99 and always wanted one! This is smaller in size, but, as you can see below, one can connect multiple trunks to make a larger one, and also get extra modular units to customize the look and function of the interior of the trunk. My only worry is that the material used for the finish is pleather (per the liaisons reply to a member email, the trunk is made of high impact/strong card stock and  variety of synthetic materials. Covered with vinyl/pleather and finished inside with a custom embossed velvet material. \they also note that the original trunk was constructed in the same manner, cardstock covered with vinyl), which we all know is very volatile with time - but the old trunk was made of the same materials and I have never seen anyone complaining of damage to that one. I will order this one and some of the extra units, although I know the shipping cost will kill me. Having used lots of larger doll trunks for ages as storage units for their outfits and accessories (the Franklin Mint ones), I know it is very convenient for me and my collection to have trunks like this around. Maybe in time I can get a second one too. I only wish that it had the drawers instead of the cupboard in the base trunk, they are so much more useful. On a side note, the liaisons also confirmed that you can open it to form a straight line from one side to the other.

Bright LED driven, with a convenient on/off switch located at the inner back of the unit, which once integrated into your display, it will allow you to turn the lights on and off without pulling it out of the modular trunk (sold separately). The display possibilities are endless! Note: This is a new component and it is not included with the base unit, it is only sold separately.

This is the element I wish was included in the basic trunk, instead of the cupboard. Drawers are so much better to keep jewellery and very small items inside, instead of the cupboard.

Your favorite Integrity Toys dolls and figures have an extensive wardrobe and we are all looking for cute ways to store and organize all those miniature couture pieces! This is your chance to add extra closet units to your modular trunk set to expand your doll clothing storage capacity! Each set includes 10 high-quality, miniature Integrity Toys doll hangers. Note: One closet and 10 hangers come included with each base unit, but we are also selling this component separately so that you can have more clothing storage space.

• Modular closet unit designed to fit inside the modular trunk set;

This is good for storing more clothes on hangers. What I have not seen though is an extra element with space to hang long dresses and gowns or pants - the height of this unit does not look adequate for storing items like these. Also, another extra that would have been awesome to see: a vanity desk, stool and mirror. Maybe with functioning lights. Next time Alain? Please?
