Tonner Doll Mainline release 2013: DeeAnna Denton

This is one of my favourite Tonner Doll lines. I managed to get one doll from this last year and she is gorgeous. It seems that it is also getting better. This year there are two dressed dolls, two basics and two outfits.

The first dressed doll is of course DeeAnna Denton™ with her 16" curvaceous body in the Tyler skin tone. She has green painted eyes with applied eyelashes and golden blonde rooted saran hair, She is wearing a black hat with faux fur trim and a red bow, a white jacket with black beaded buttons, black faux fur cuffs, and black and white faux fur collar. It is cinched with a black patent leather belt over a black pencil skirt.  Nude pantyhose, red bead earrings, a red beaded necklace, red gloves and red patent leather shoes complete the look. She comes with a stand.

Period perfect, this is a gorgeous doll, even though her earrings are a bit simple regarding the rest of the outfit. She should have had a bag too, as would be appropriate for the era.

The second dressed doll is Peggy Harcourt™ on a 16" curvaceous body in the Tyler skin tone. She has purple painted eyes with applied eyelashes and pale blonde rooted saran hair. Her outfit consists of an iridescent purple skirt, matching purple and fuchsia top with gold studs, one pink and one purple glove, rhinestone bracelets, a rhinestone necklace, rhinestone earrings, nude pantyhose, purple faux suede shoes, an iridescent purple and fuchsia hat and a purple faux fur shawl. She comes with a stand.

Peggy is my favourite sculpt from this line and she looks gorgeous yet again. The outfit is a bit outré but is period perfect, although we still miss a handbag to go. The turban looks a bit smashed, I hope the production ones look better. I love the draping on the top. As they do not describe it as a jacket, it probably opens on the back and not on the front.

One basic doll is DeeAnna Denton™. She has brown painted eyes with applied eyelashes and a pale blonde removable saran wig. She has the Tyler skin tone (and always the curvaceous body). She sports a light purple teddy with ruffle trim and garters over nude pantyhose and purple molded plastic shoes. She comes with a stand.

This one looks better than the dressed DeeAnna! The teddy and garters are a nice touch. We have seen the molded plastic shoes before on basic Tyler dolls. And in the same colour.

Of course the second basic doll is Peggy Harcourt™ with the 16" curvaceous body in a Tyler skin tone. She has green painted eyes with applied eyelashes and a mink removable saran wig. She has a teal teddy with ruffle trim and garters over nude pantyhose and teal molded plastic shoes. She comes with a stand.

Look at those gorgeous green eyes! She has almost the same colouring as my own Peggy, Short N'Sassy but with green eyes (even better) and lighter brows. If I did not have SNS, I would get her in an instant. They should have made the outfit in teal, it would look so much better.

The first outfit is a floral print dress with white ribbon trim at the waist. It has a white crinoline petticoat. Accessories include a white hat with faux flowers, white gloves, faux pearl earrings, a faux pearl necklace and black faux leather shoes.

While the dressed dolls are wearing winter ensembles, the solo outfits are decidedly summery. Light and airy, again this is period perfect apart from a missing bag.

The last outfit is a peach dress with white embroidered organza overlay and an attached belt. Accessories include a white hat with peach tulle and faux flower decoration, matching faux leather shoes, a faux pearl necklace, faux pearl earrings and white gloves.

She is without a bag again. A dreamy confection this one, it could also use nude pantyhose. No lady of that era would be caught dead without it.

Tonner 2012 Fall Holiday release Pt.3: DeeAnna Denton line

From the modern to the retro: here is the Deeanna Denton dolls and outfits from the Tonner Doll company Fall Holiday 2012 release preview. This is one of my favourite lines and it seems it delivers again!

First doll is called L'Amour: $199.99 Dressed doll LE 300.  She has the DeeAnna Denton™ head sculpt with the 16" curvaceous body in the Tyler skin tone. Her eyes are green with applied black eyelashes and she has auburn rooted saran hair. Her gown is a rose pink satin confection with a pink sparkle tulle skirt overlay and trim. Under it she sports a white petticoat. Accessories include white gloves, nude pantyhose with attached panties, a faux pearl necklace with matching earrings and rose pink satin pumps.

This is one of the most beautiful DeeAnna dolls released, such a gorgeous face. Her outfit is a bit too sugary pink for me but it fits the era and her style perfectly.

The second doll of the line is called Short and Sassy: $199.99 Dressed doll  LE 300. She has the Peggy Harcourt™ head Sculpt with the 16" curvaceous body in the Tyler skin tone. She sports blue painted eyes with applied black eyelashes and a black removable saran wig. She has a black taffeta dress with pink and mint green bow trim, accessorized with pink stretch net gloves. Accessories include nude pantyhose, pink rhinestone earrings, a pink rhinestone bracelet and black taffeta pumps.

This is easily the best doll in the whole Fall Holiday 2012 release of Tonner. I am glad I was not able to afford the previous Peggy doll because I will  be trying to secure this one! I love her face, her short, sassy wig, the dress is old Hollywood glam at it's best! It will fir perfectly in my collection.

The only outfit in this line is called Sunset Cocktails - $89.99 LE 200 Outfit only. It fits 16" curvaceous body. It consists of an orange satin dress with chiffon sash with tulle and beaded accents plus an orange jacket with white stitching decoration. Accessories include gold beaded earrings and a pair of gold faux leather shoes.

I love the detail on this. The draping of the skirt looks great and so does the embroidery on the jacket. They should have included the wig with this outfit. Or release the doll.

Tonner Spring 2012 Mainline release: DeAnna Denton & Peggy Harcourt

Third and final part of my presentation of the Tonner mainline Spring 2012 collection: the DeeAnna Denton line. Inspired by the romantic and glamorous world of vintage illustration art, the DeeAnna Denton™ Collection hearkens back to the vavavoom era of style. She does remind me of Joan from Mad Men, how she would have been in her younger years. DeeAnna also has a friend called Peggy Harcourt (whose sculpt I love more) and they both come with the curvaceous body.

Let's start with the basics: the DeeAnna Denton wigged basic doll has blue painted eyes with applied eyelashes and a removable auburn wig. She has the Tyler skin tone. Her outfit: a navy swimsuit with white trim and navy plastic molded sandals. LE 500.

Of course there's a basic Peggy Harcourt wigged doll as well! She too has blue painted eyes with applied eyelashes and a removable platinum wig. She has the Tyler skin tone woo. Her outfit is a black body suit with a black satin half slip and black plastic molded sandals. LE 500. I want her! She looks like a mix of Marilyn Monroe and Rita Heyworth!

Now the dressed dolls: I love DeeAnna dressed doll has blue painted eyes with applied eyelashes and  rooted platinum curly hair. She wears a pale lilac "dotted swiss" dress with white lace trim over a white net crinoline and sheer pantyhose with attached panties. Accessories include a faux pearl necklace,  faux pearl earrings, sheer white short gloves with lace trim and a pair of  lilac and white strappy high heel sandals. No bag, which looks weird with 50s outfits. LE 300.

The second dressed doll is called Lunch On Park. Here DeeAnna has brown painted eyes with applied eyelashes and rooted copper hair with side-swept bangs (they do not look promising). She wears a black twill suit jacket with light brown faux fur trim, golden buttons and a mauve satin ribbon. The suit has a black twill pencil skirt. Her accessories are AB rhinestone earrings, AB rhinestone bracelet, a black twill hat with light brown faux fur trim, mauve elbow length gloves, sheer pantyhose and a pair of mauve faux leather high heel pumps.Wonder why they do not include a bag. LE 300.

The outfits are even better: First one is DeeAnna's New Look outfit. A one piece dress with black taffeta bodice and net skirt with glitter firework pattern. It fastens with a black taffeta belt with rhinestone buckle. There are matching rhinestone earrings and black satin sling back, peep toe shoes. A bag is sorely missed. LE 200. The outfit looks great though.

Next up is the Red Hot DeeAnna outfit. A va-va-voom sexy red matte taffeta fitted dress with portrait neckline and three quarter sleeves, it comes accessorized with leopard print gloves and a leopard print wrap.  Red, black and gold bead earrings and a matching necklace are included. Final touch: the leopard print high heel pumps. Again no bag. LE 200.

The third outfit is called Banker's Ball. This is an ivory tissue taffeta and net waltz length gown with embroidery trim and a white net crinoline. It has a flower detail on the shoulder, like a corsage. Included are black gloves, a faux pearl bracelet and black faux leather peep toe shoes. Not even a clutch here.LE 200.

Fourth and final outfit is called On The Rocks. It includes a fuchsia tissue taffeta fitted, sleeveless jumpsuit worn with a printed leopard hostess coat with a big white organza ruffled collar and cuffs. It comes with fuchsia satin peep toe mules. Not very classy. LE 200.

Oh here's the bag! The Glamour Set Accessory is sold separately from the fashions and included a lamé scarf, a faux leather brown handbag with golden trim (which does not match any of the outfits), a pair of pink sunglasses (which would look good only with the last outfit and maybe on a younger gal) and a  pack of faux gum. I would have ditched the gum and included a long cigarette holder with a cigarette attached to it. The line also has two lovely wigs: the Suzanne which is a red/brown wig (Suzanne Hayward comes to mind), and the Bettie which is a raven wig with bangs (Bettie Page indeed).

Overall the line looks good although the omission of a bag with every outfit is a serious mistake. I would love to have the Peggy Harcourt basic doll, the New Look outfit and the two wigs. Wonder if this body fits the Marilyn Monroe and Elisabeth Taylor outfits from Franklin Mint.
