Dolly Days - Day Three: Power Workout Tenzin Dahkling Basic Edition

For Day Three of Dolly-Days, Integrity Toys unveiled a Basic Edition Tenzin Dahkling designed by Alain Tremblay and Vaughn Sawyers. A reminder that Basic Edition dolls tend to have a lower price point and a much larger edition size (which sometimes includes restocking*) that make them more accessible to the general public. That means they also come with minimal clothing and accessories.

W Club members will have a priority pre-order window (one per membership) until Friday, February 9th at 3 PM Eastern Time (should quantities remain) and special W Club-only discounted pricing. After the dolls arrive arrive at the IT Warehouse sometime in mid-to-late March, any remaining quantities will then be made available to the general public at the MSRP.

Celebrity trainer Tenzin Dahkling hit the gym in style to help train the top MMA star for his big championship fight! But when he starting posting his New Year's resolutions fitness tips on social media, it seemed like his posts got more likes for his style than his moves!

New Basic Edition dolls by Integrity Toys available now!

We knew there were new basic edition dolls coming from Integrity Toys since last year, and here they are at last. They were unveiled to club members last Friday and come from various Integrity Toys brands and designers. And guess what? Not only they are now available for purchase, they ship right after you pay for them too. No waiting, no preorder - almost instant gratification.

So what are basic edition dolls you say? The company says this:

“For those unfamiliar with the concept, unlike most other Integrity Toys dolls that are more elaborate in detail and more limited in nature, Basic Edition dolls are the best way for both new and seasoned collectors alike to be able to buy beautiful Integrity Toys dolls to dress up and play with! The basic dolls have had a variety of names throughout the years, most usually Close Up dolls. And yes, they are a great way to be introduced to what the company has to offer, at a lower price than their usual offerings - even though nowadays the price is closer to what regular line dolls were back then. Four dolls, from four different lines (FR, NU Face, Poppy Parker and Meteor), plus an accessories pack that is actually completing the NU Face doll, rather than a separate, versatile item. I was expecting that either Veronique or Vanessa would get the basic doll spot for the Fashion Royalty line, but Natalia beat them to it. She’s good looking but not a doll that I’d characterise as “have to get”, especially if one already has similarly styled/coloured Natalias. The bathing suit and jewellery are referencing the one worn by Ocean Drive Agnes, very Versace. Good to see the price still at $99.00.

I still do not like this sculpt, it has never reached its full potential so far. It does not help that the prototype doll is wonky eyed - I hope they fix this in production. Her swimsuit looks gorgeous and so do her platform sandals. The Cleopatra vibes are strong with this one.

A dark haired Poppy is not what one would expect for a basic doll release, since traditionally the blonde ones are more popular. And since the first one had brown hair, I was expecting this one to be blonde, even though the combination here is better: black hair, hungarian skin tone and brown eyes. Delicious. Erin was very much expected to appear soon as she has been gone a while. Probably the most beautiful of the basic dolls of this wave, she reminds me a lot of High End Envy Erin, which is one of my favourite Erin releases. The dress is recreating the one worn by Mademoiselle Lilith Blair doll. And if seeing such an elaborate dress on a basic doll strucks you as unusual, you have not seen the accompanying accessory pack yet - with the slightly more expensive price of this doll plus the pack, you pay the price of a regular release doll. I can’t say I like this but it still gives people the opportunity to get a gorgeous doll for less, if they can skip the extras.

The tights are a staining danger as well. Love the bejewelled bow.

New East 59th Basic dolls are announced!

Integrity Toys had announced that they would gradually change the basic dolls in all lines earlier this year. The first new one have been unveiled and they are from the East 59th line, designed by Chris Stoeckel. A new Victoire Roux and the first basic guy, Augustus "Gus" Blake, are the new additions to the basic doll releases. Integrity Toys is tweaking the process slightly. For W Club members, they are taking a pre-order for the new entries in the East 59th collection and members may order 1 per membership at special W Club pricing. That means at least one guaranteed doll per member, which is great! No more hassle and anxiety. It makes more sense for me to have members pre-order and have dolls made to order, just like with regular club dolls. Easier for the company and the buyers! The company also mentioned that “While the initial idea behind these dolls is to manufacture them "Open Edition" style (which means that more will be produced once they sell out), Integrity Toys reserves the right to "retire" these designs based on their overall popularity level at any point. Once that happens, it means that they won't be produced again.” 

Non members will be able to order the dolls once they come in stock. Depending on the edition size of the initial pre-order, it is possible that orders may have to be shipped in waves (meaning, that even though you pre-order now, you may not be in the first batch of dolls that arrive and may have to wait for a second or third batch to be produced). We will know after May 20th if multiple shipping waves are necessary.

I was not expecting another Victoire as a basic doll for East 59th but here she is, in all her blonde bombshell glory. I suppose they wanted to add a blonde one, after the redhead and raven versions. This one has a better swimsuit, two piece instead of a single one, and it is in a lovely polka dot fabric. Typical accessories, lovely face. The club discount price is the basics price of last year, the public will be getting them $10.00 more.

I love that we are getting a Darius/Gus as a basic doll, he’s one of my favourite guys and cannot have enough of him. Nubian skin tone too! I love his swimming trunks (can we have a real life pair like this to buy too?) and he’ll look gorgeous next to Laird in his striped shirt. I’m definitely getting this one! I’m not so sure about the pleather espadrilles though.

Under the Malibu Sky: the open edition Agnes Von Weiss is revealed!

Fashion Royalty collectors were wondering which of the characters from the line would be the first to get an open edition basic doll version. Veronique, Adele and Vanessa were the names dropped more often but it is Agnes that gets the treatment first. Surprisingly so, as she is supposedly an club/event only doll - i.e. she is offered either as a club doll or during online presentations or conventions. The difference to previous open edition dolls is that Agnes will be first available to W Club members, and once the process of ordering has finished for them, the doll will be available to the public. The information is that one 2000 doll batch will be available late June (and not immediately as with previous open editions), the next will be approximately late November, a third batch for late winter 2021-2022 and, if a fourth one is needed, it will be later in 2022. So I am guessing the other open edition dolls will follow a similar pattern.

What a beautiful Agnes! Anything but basic! I bet this will be the most popular open edition of all so far - the combination of the character and the perfect execution will be a smash. I’m curious to see the Malibu Agnes photographed with the Miami one. She reminds me of Fresh Perspective Agnes - same youthful energy, but better colouring. Let’s hope the process of ordering her will be problem-free.

Lilith Blair is on a Natural High!

After the previous open edition basic doll release from Integrity Toys less than a month ago, we have a new one: One of the infamous NU Face twins, Lilith Blair, is appearing as Natural High, available on Thursday 8th of April for order, with the same procedure that was followed for the Poppy Parker basic edition. I am certain that she will be as popular as Poppy was. In other news, Integrity Toys is looking for a professional photographer to work with them, so send in those emails. Wicked Narcissism Eugenia is arriving at the end of April or early May, Pretty Reckless Rayna will arrive to dealers this coming week, while Alexandra will be arriving alongside Eugenia. The company has updated their warranty terms, which are available here, and I think this is the first time I am seeing specific time limits for the different parts that constitute a doll. The lowest time limit for a warranty is four months, and with the mail delays currently afflicting the entire world (no matter which mail carrier one picks), it is not good. Integrity should give this at least six months, as it regards crucial doll parts that are usually problematic as the doll screening and hair rooting, the outfit and the accessories (the body is still under the one year period). With problematic dolls, especially in larger editions, becoming more often lately, this sucks big time.

The Blair twins might be very popular with Integrity Toys doll collectors but with me they are mostly miss and rarely a hit. I have a few in my collection but I find their sculpt too generic and without character. This one is a sister to the 2017 Fairytale convention Changing Winds Eden (Jessy said so in his Instagram post about this one) and I definitely prefer Lilith. I might try to get her now, but then again, I was saying the same for Poppy and I did not even bother. She’s in the darker natural colours that I like so that is definitely a plus.
