Integrity Toys Dolly Days 4: East 59th Collection unveiled

The fourth day of the Dolly Days event had the first collection reveal: four East 59th dolls were unveiled, adding to the capsule collection presented in May. Chris Stoeckel working his magic again. Two of them are shipping quite soon, right after the holidays, while the other two are scheduled for March 2020. All doll’s are available to preorder from Integrity Toys dealers.

I like Aurelia a lot but I still have not found a version of her I’d buy and add to my collection. Lots of nice things here, especially the silhouette of the dress and the colours. The term cloisonné used to describe the jewellery is French. Cloison is the compartment in French, and here it means that the various gems used (or enamel) are visibly separated, each in its compartment.

Yellow again - we could have been offered a different colour than the one used for Aurelia. Navy blue and white would have been perfect, with one of the pairs of shoes being a spectator pump style.

East 59th capsule collection unveiled!

Two new capsule collections were revealed this week from Integrity Toys. The first one is East 59th Street by Chris Stoeckel, who continues with his foray in the world of 1950's fashion. There are two dressed dolls and a gift set inspired by retro paper doll designs available through regular IT dealers and also an IT Direct exclusive two-doll "Pink Champagne" gift set, featuring Victoire Roux modelling her friend Aurelia's latest creation on her wedding day.

Beautiful doll but not enough to tempt me into buying her, although I want a dark haired Victoire for my collection (the ones I have have all variations of red hair). Elegant and bright ensemble with nice details and accessories. It has a whiff of the Busy Gal Barbie. This hat has been done to death in Poppy Parker line and should be retired. There were so many different hat designs in the 1950s so it would be nice to see something else for a change. Love the colour combinations.

A new Aurelia, not that different from the first one at first look. I don’t particularly like the dress with the weird draping. I wish we could see more Charles James style gowns instead of Bon Bon style dresses. Not a fan of the colour combination either. She has the more realistic gloves which is a very good thing.

I really don’t like this one. The colours, shapes, textures, are all somewhat off. The Victoire gown in particular looks shapeless. The fabric and embroidery don’t particularly do the shape justice and keep it from looking good on the doll. It’s a great price for two dolls though. Oven mittens make an appearance on the bride.

Integrity Toys Luxe Life Convention 2018: Welcome Doll and Convention Collection

This year the most awaited Integrity Toys event takes place in Portland, on the west coast of the USA. Attendees and organisers travelled far to,reach the convention grounds and the party is just getting started. Social media started buzzing with the first photos from early arrivals yesterday and today, first official day of the event, we get the first full post. 

Convention registration started Wednesday for those arriving early and everyone was welcomed by receiving the "THE LOVE OF LUXE" Veronique doll in their welcome bag, along with a monogrammed acrylic chair accessory.

If she had different colours in her make up, she’d look great. The outfit is boring and the accessories not anything to write home about. Not a great debut for a luxe themed event.

I like the lucite chairs, especially those mimicking Philippe Starck’s Louis Ghost, but I’m not sure about the monogram treatment.

​We finally get to see the convention Upgrade doll that was available for pre-order when registration started. "A Fabulous Life" Rayna Ahmadi doll made her appearance and every W Club member, attending or not, could pre-order her last spring.

We had the chance to preorder her based on a sketch. The outfit is a copy of an Alexander McQueen Automn/Winter 2018 outfit:

​Having figured out the outfit from the initial Integrity sketch, I was excited and waited anxiously to see the final result. And while the doll is perfection (black hair, pale skin, red lips, Rayna sculpt, duh) and the execution looks great (draping and proportions seem exquisite), the main element of the dress is not red as in the original. Instead it is a pale violet/beige that makes the outfit flat and boring.

​Really guys? If it was a matter of possible trouble with copying, just make it another bright colour: emerald green, cobalt blue, saffron yellow. I’m very disappointed with this choice. Other than that, I’m glad I got her, she is the best doll revealed in the convention yet (and that includes the rest of the doll’s in this post).

The new Victoire sculpt makes its second appearance this year. And looks even better in this emerald concoction that reminds me of fashions worn by Gene Marshall. Beautiful doll and lovely gown. Her widow’s peak and skunk striped hair fit her perfectly. She has the new type gloves that look amazing with this kind of fashion. The necklace could be a green version of the one worn by Take The Picture Funny Face doll.

Integrity Toys 2018 reveal pt.3: East 59th Collection

The third collection presented during the webinar was East 59th. Of course Chris Stoeckel was there to talk about the concept (fashions inspired by cocktails) and give us all the details. Constance Madssen and Evelyn Weaverton are joined this season by the first male doll (now apparently called Fashion Figures) Laird Drake and a newly revamped Victoire Roux, returning with a redesigned sculpt after a two-year absence. Most collectors, me included, were expecting her debut during the convention but here she is. Just like last year, most of the dolls include an alternate ensemble by using extra pieces and lots of miniature accessories like cocktail glasses, bottles and cigars. All dolls are available via Integrity Toys Dealers only and are for adult collectors ages 15 and up only. Most of them will arrive in September, making it difficult to order more than one or two, even though it’s a great collection.

Another new man! This is shaping up to be the year of men for Integrity Toys. He’s channeling Cary Grant, as his styling recalls the To Catch A Thief film. I think most of the new male sculpts not included in the new Homme line could be rejects from that line. Truth is I expected him looking quite older.

One thing: they talked about the hat as if it was something new, but we have had a similar one with Outsass Vanessa. Unless it is made of fabric and not the usual flocked plastic, it does not look that special. Pet peeve: oven mitts. Bleh.

If I had the budget to add another doll from this collection to my preorder, this would be it. Even though her face reminds me a lot of the Cinderella Evelyn from last year’s convention (and Evan Rachel Wood as well), her styling, outfit and accessories are superb. A beautiful raven haired Wvelyn, wearing an impressive and stylish gown. The accessories are to die for, particularly most being close to Tiffany blue. Oven mitts alert. I actually asked during the Q&A at the end of the webinar, why we see both the old, ugly oven mitts and the new sculpted hand glove with the separate arm piece. One of the designers said that it is an aesthetic decision: sometimes the old style fits the design. He also,said that sometimes the colour of the hand and that of the fabric does not match. I think white should have been easy to make, no?

The return of Victoire Roux! With a redesigned sculpt, so that it will look less cartoony and more realistic, as Chris said. She’s beautiful and I preordered her as I wanted to have the first new Victoire, even though I already have an older one with similarly coloured hair. The versatility of the outfit is nice and her accessories great. She has the new sculpted gloves but the golden colour of the hands does not perfectly match the arm fabric. How come this was,ade and not the white or orange ones for the other dolls? The gin bottle, martini glass and jewellery more than make up,for it though.

A new doll line from Integrity Toys: East 59th

A few days ago, Integrity Toys sent W Club members four mysterious sneak peeks and everybody started talking about what they could be, if they were existing dolls or new ones and speculating on their style and fashions. At last, the company unveiled a brand new collection making its debut today online: EAST 59th! The line is actually continuing in the Victoire style, with elegant early 50s fashions. It has the same designer, the incredibly talented Chris Stoeckel, who collaborated with Alain Tremblay on the storyline. According to Integrity, the EAST 59th collection promises to take us back in time to chic and swanky 1950's New York... and where Victoire Roux will enter later... The collection premiered with four new dolls, two new characters so far and can be preordered from the Integrity Toys dealers. If you want them run, as many are already sold out. The new characters have new sculpts and a new body. The body is a modified Victoire body. The change is more in shape and details then size. Chris said they streamlined the body. The upper torso is Victoire's, the upper legs are Poppy's and the lower legs are Industry. The body can be dissassembled as the rest of Integrity dolls. The best thing is that all old Victoire fashions and shoes fit the new body perfectly. More dolls will be coming this year (Laird will be one of them) and Victoire will join the line in 2018. Constance Madssen™ is a fully articulated 12.5 inch doll with rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. This doll comes complete with all of the components needed to transform her look from day-to-night and back again. Of course, no modeling gig would be complete without the product to advertise (and be seen with!) and Constance has her own miniature pack of cigarettes and a signature cigarette holder. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included.

This is easily my favourite doll of the line. She stands far and above the rest, both as a doll and as an outfit. It's a classic hostess outfit (the main look) that transforms into a more casual, skin bearing look. The accessories are gorgeous and it looks like her shoes are not plastic like the rest of the line (more on that later). I'm pre ordering this one.​

Ms. Weaverton opted for a look that can easily transform from a day look to an evening look with just the switch of a few pieces. The look comes with jewelry that complements the shade of her electric blue satin outfit, two pairs of assorted retro-looking shoes and a makeup set. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. A doll stand and a certificate of authenticity is also included.

The second character has a sculpt I'm not particularly fond of, at least in its first two presentations. This looks more 40s than 50s and I think it's more to do with the styling than the actual outfit. I love the hair colour and the accessories, although they should have included a bag - no woman of that era ever left home without a bag, her gloves and her hat. But the plastic shoes are a bit of a deal breaker. When I pay $135 for a doll, she should not have simple plastic pumps. Asked about this, Chris said it was done to give the dolls a retro doll feel. To me it simply looks cheap. He did say that the line will feature the handmade shoes Integrity Toys gives the other lines, so that is good. If I wanted plastic I'd buy Barbie for a fraction of the price.

The doll comes complete with an specially-marked miniature bottle of Veuf Christoph Pomarin Cuvée 1951 champagne, two champagne flutes, long opera-length gloves, a floral head piece, jewelry and a pair of retro-looking molded shoes. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. A doll stand and a certificate of authenticity is included.

I think this second version of Evelyn (who is actually named after Chris's grandmother) is not as glamorous as th previous one. The dress reminds me of the one Monaco Vanessa was wearing. The cocktail look is more early sixties, it could feature easily in the TV series Feud. And plastic shoes again.

​Constance Madssen™ is a fully articulated 12.5 inch doll with rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes. Ms. Madssen is wearing a tailored costume that can go from day to night with just a few simple changes of accessories. The doll comes complete with two different pairs of shoes, a "fur" stole, two cocktails, a doll-sized menu from the swanky Hawthorn Room (the place where everyone on East 59th likes to hang out and gossip), a chic hat, a clutch, gloved hands and pearls. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. A doll stand and a certificate of authenticity is also included.

This version of Constance pales in comparison to the first one. Although she comes with nice accessories, there's something about her that makes her look plain. Maybe if the fabric of the suit was in a houndstooth pattern or tweed... Something else that I'd like to see in this era are the shorter hairstyles most women were sporting, barely reaching the shoulders. The long hair looks a bit dated for this decade and especially for models of the time.

We have seen the cocktail glasses before in IT dolls. Notice the painted glove hands, with dots that mimic the leather perforated driving gloves of old. So, are you getting any of the new line dolls? 

One last thing: the packaging! Integrity Toys' resident packaging expert, Alain Tremblay, created a brand-new, collector-friendly package for these new collectibles! Each new mini trunk-like package features a sturdy tray construction with individual doors to make sure all of those little glamorous accessories are kept safe and sound! Here's a 3D rendering of the package to give you an idea of what to expect when the new dolls start shipping approximately in the Summer of 2017.
