Pink of Perfection is the 15th anniversary Poppy Parker doll!

You’d have to live under a rock to miss the fact that 2024 is the 15th anniversary of Poppy Parker. Who would have thought, back in 2009, that the then new doll would become the juggernaut she is today, dominating the releases and sales of Integrity Toys, and making David Buttry a very happy doll designer! Poppy has been travelling all over the world, making friends along the way, been in a relationship, on mystery dates, on amazing fashion shoots, in films and TV shows - you name it, she’s done it! And of course there would be a special anniversary doll to commemorate Poppy Parker's 15th, exlusive to W Club members.

I was expecting a bit more fanfare for this anniversary - just think that on the 5th anniversary there was also an IFDC collection alongside the club doll, plus the convention Poppy dolls which we will see quite soon.

Poppy Parker got all dolled up to attend what she thought was a surprise party for her frenemy Ginger Gilroy, but it turns out the surprise was on her, the party was for Poppy! When Poppy arrived at the door as a vision in pink to the sounds of all her friends and family shouting "Surprise" in unison, she was so touched that she turned perfectly pink herself and collapsed into the arms of Chip! He stayed at her side for the whole party to make sure she was okay, much to the dismay of Ginger! - Designed by David Buttry

She’s a gorgeous doll. I love the strong dark eyebrows and eyeliner contrasting the light pink lipstick but would have preferred it on a cream skintone to better suit the pink tones of everything else. The hairstyle compliments the dress perfectly, and is suitable for her young age - an older woman would probably have an up-do with such a look back in those days. The dress is a Dior Spring 1956 haute couture gown named “Danse”. All its photos online are b&w, so I have no idea what colour was the original dress. I would probably have liked it a bit more in a different colour - the 5th anniversary Poppy wore pink, the 10th black, so we could have had light blue or green or even a bold fiery red! Poppy goes disco: The 2nd W CLub doll for 2024 is Star Muse Poppy Parker!

The 2nd W Club Exclusive doll of the 2024 membership year was revealed to members at the end of August: "Star Muse" Poppy Parker, designed by David Buttry, exclusively for W Club members, arrives not long after the first club doll of the year. The surprise is that she’s not in her regular era style (either late 50s-early 60s or mod 60s), not even her Charlie Angels 70s style. But more on that later on. Let’s check out the doll first.

As the project started gaining traction, all of the attention our star was getting truly set off her frenemy; Ginger Gilroy; who was only cast in a secondary role!

Amid the turmoil, will Poppy’s fabulously colorful costumes and flashy new roller skates win everyone’s heart over? Can the two friends confront their differences and work through them to achieve their dreams of stardom and restore harmony? As I mentioned above, Poppy is in a quite different era than we have seen so far. She’s veering towards end of the 70s/very early 80s era. She looks like a modern interpretation of Olivia Newton-John in Xanadu, ready to sing Magic while rolling around the club dancefloor. The hairstyle with the ribbon certainly alludes to that film, as well as the rollers and the general disco/bubblegum aesthetic. She also pulls from other stars of the era but has more modern influences as well. The star is a direct nod to the upgrade Ultraviolet Poppy. The screening is from Tears Go By.

The most surprising thing about this doll is the price point. She’s the same price as the When In Paris Poppy, but that one had two complete outfits, also both pairs of legs and many more accessories than this one. And it was only months ago, so inflation and other excuses don’t cut it. The roller skates are not that expensive online ($20-$30) so what’s up Integrity? The clothes are not even that detailed to make up for any part of the cost. If she had an additional dress similar to those worn in Xanadu by Olivia, she’d be perfect and much sought after. I am getting her, but only because of the Olivia connection (thin as it is) and nothing more. Below is the video of the rotating doll.

On first glance she is fierce and impressive, looking more adult than usual. Hopefully the silver eyeshadow will not be too harsh. She’s quite reminiscent of what they used to call “ski bunny” but narrowly escapes the feel. If this was out a few years ago I might have gone for her, but with the raised prices, the onslaught of releases and the rising cost of living, it is a no from me. I do have a ski Poppy after all, so I’m not going to miss the gear. Also for a $175 doll, I’d like her to have a more styled hairdo. I like that the fur vest is separate from the jacket, which gives the outfit more versatility and redress value.

Poppy Parker At Home collection unveiled and sold out almost immediately!

The first proper doll collection of Integrity Toys for 2024 was none other than four new Poppy Parker dolls. This year is the 15th anniversary of the commercial juggernaut of IT (she made her debut back in 2009), so people are expecting lots of special PP releases! There was a live presentation for this collection, where the designer David Buttry and Carol Roth talked about Poppy’s history (did you know Chip’s full name is Frederick Charles Farnsworth the III? Or that he has a sister nicknamed Cookie? LOL) present to you four brand new Poppy Parker Collection dolls, all created by incredible The collection is named Poppy Parker At Home and the concept is that she returns to her roots for a visit home to reconnect with her friends and family. To further enhance the nostalgia about Poppy’s early days, each doll in this collection comes packaged in a faithful reproduction of the original Poppy Parker window box, complete with the ribbon ties on the sides. The dolls are sold out almost everywhere.

This Poppy has the Bergdorf eye combined with the Reluctant Debutante brow. The basic idea behind the collection is that all dolls remind people of that first year, without copying any of them. Her dress as a shape reminds me of Reluctant Debutante with the gingham pattern of Dorothy from Oz (and there is a light blue satin petticoat underneath the skirt). The embroidered bag is nice but overall the doll is not giving much.. I briefly entertained the thought of getting her as a substitute of Sweet in Switzerland Poppy but she pales in comparison.

This is the star of the collection - she was the first doll to sell out. She’s my second favourite of the bunch - see my first below. She has the Pillow Talk screening (Summer Magic) and hairstyle, just in different colours. Love the colour combinations here, although the sweater misses out on photos - I bet it looks much better in real life. She sports a full length turtleneck under the sweater. Her overall vibe does remind me of Sweet in Switzerland so I really want to get this one. Plus she has the best accessories of all in this collection.

This is my favourite doll from this collection. She has a Co-ed Cutie vibe but as if she’s graduated and has her own home now. She has the Summer Magic screening and looks gorgeous with the colour blocking of the dress (that’s a one piece dress, no separate obi). People mention Sparkling Sunset as a similar one but that dress had an empire waistline and a different belt style. Look closer people! She’s also the only one with high heeled feet, which matches her look. She’s a keeper.

this is the lottery doll and is the only one I am not crazy about. Yes, she is a beautiful doll but neither the pajamas or Mr. Teddybear or her pink lipstick do it for me. She has the Bergdorf eye with the Reluctant Debutante eyebrow. I do not even like the colours of her plaid outfit - if it was in a green/blue combination, it might have swayed me a bit. Pass.

The new W Club year begins with two new fashion packs for Poppy Parker

Before March ends, and after the registration period for the 2024 W Club membership passed, the first release of the year is two outfits for Poppy Parker doll, both of which are no surprise to club members. One is the companion outfit for the gorgeous 2024 W Club upgrade doll, "Angel Eyes" Poppy Parker, which was revealed during the upgrade presentation: the "Tweed Intrigue" fashion.  I could not find any Kelly Garret outfit from the 70s on-line that resembles this one, but it surely looks like something she (even Jaclyn Smith, the actress portraying her) would have worn back in the day. It looks perfect for the era and for the character, with lots of items and accessories that could even used with other Poppy stuff. Will probably get this for my upgrade Poppy.

Jason Cramer is a very creative guy and has awesome ideas in this outfit - from the textures and colouring to the faux-embroidery skirt print and accessories. Even me, not a boho style fan at all, am still on the fence about ordering this for my dolls, Jason’s genius is that great. And that bag is scrumptious. Bravo Jason for winning the contest and making such a wonderful outfit for Poppy!
